Course Overview

Managing and processing data is becoming increasingly important in the modern world
due to the widespread availability of and access to unprecedented amounts of data using
diverse computational resources. Through six required courses, this minor will help
provide students with an understanding of the fundamental principles and technologies
associated with data management and processing. Students will gain experience using
data science methodologies such as data mining and visualization to solve real-world
problems by analyzing extremely large data sets. Students receiving this minor will
develop an analytical mindset and provide them with the tools to become proficient in
processing and managing massive amounts of data.
