STEM Scholar Interview Day

Check-In

Don’t be nervous! You’re dressed to impress in business professional attire. Here’s what to do...

• Please check in no later than 8 a.m.
• At check-in, you will receive the exact times and locations of your interviews.
• After check-in, we’ll direct you to a spot to hang out with other Finalists and current STEM Scholars. A continental breakfast, snacks, and drinks will be provided.

Location: Brown-Lupton University Union, Third Floor

Interviews

This is it! We have faculty, staff, and students who are excited to meet you.

• You will meet with a panel of 3 or 4 faculty, staff, and/or current students. During this interview, which will total 20 minutes, you will engage in question and answer about you, your goals and accomplishments, and your aspirations for a career in a STEM field.
• You will also meet one-on-one with the STEM Scholars program director. This interview will total 10 minutes.

Location: Rooms will be provided in a folder upon check-in

Check-Out

Whew! You did it! Time to relax. Come check out before you go back to school or to the luncheon.

• At the conclusion of both of your interviews, after you have seen both a panel and met one-on- one with the program director, please come to see us at the table where you checked in.
• At this time, we can provide documentation of your attendance at STEM Scholar interview day for your school attendance records.

Luncheon

Time to celebrate! This is about honoring you. We look forward to sharing food and fellowship.

• You and your guests are invited to join us for a celebratory luncheon honoring the STEM Scholar Finalists.
• During the luncheon you will hear from several members of the campus community about the STEM Scholar program. 

Location: Dee J. Kelly Alumni & Visitors Center

•  You will participate in two interviews.
• One interview will be with a panel of three or four TCU faculty, staff, and/or current students. This interview will last approximately 20 minutes.
• One interview will be one-on-one with the STEM Scholars program director. This interview will last approximately 10 minutes.
• You may have your panel interview first, and you may have your one-on-one interview first.
• All interviews will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
• You will find out the exact times and locations of your first interviews when you check in by 8 a.m. that morning.

Meals:

• Breakfast will be served beginning at 7:30 a.m.
• A luncheon honoring the Finalists will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the Dee J. Kelly Alumni & Visitors Center.
• Snacks and beverages will be available throughout the duration of the interviews.

Attire: Business Professional (guide linked here)

• Parents and guests are invited to join us for a celebratory luncheon at 12:30 p.m. in the Dee J. Kelly Alumni & Visitors Center.
• While parents and guests are not required to check in by 8 a.m. with their Finalists, they are welcome to join us. There will be space available to wait while the Finalists are interviewing, and staff and current students will be on hand to answer questions.
• While parents and guests are invited to join their Finalist in the morning, we request that they do not wait directly outside the students’ interview rooms.  

 If your attendance at STEM Scholar Interview Day requires you to miss school, please begin making those arrangements as soon as possible. We will email your high school counselor verifying your participation in advance of Interview Day. Hard copy documentation verifying your participation will be available at the conclusion of Interview Day.
