Frequently Asked Questions

Once you have secured a position on the wait list at Texas Christian University, please review this FAQ list to ensure you do not miss any important information.

We do NOT rank the wait list.

We go to the wait list every year for both programs. It is important that you accept your spot on the wait list and keep our office updated as to your progress in summer classes.

All final grades should be updated in NursingCAS. Official transcripts must also be sent to NursingCAS for spring and summer coursework.

Applicants who have accepted a position on the wait list may be admitted to the program beginning June 1st and continuing up until the fall semester at TCU begins in August. All prerequisites must be completed in order to be admitted to the program. You will be notified by phone and/or email.

Yes, in the event you are admitted to our program you will need to present this clearance (blue card) to the TCU Nursing Department when the fall semester begins in August. You will receive a SERVICE CODE via email, which will allow you to complete your fingerprint scan for the Texas Board of Nursing. This clearance can take anywhere from 30-120 days to complete. As a result, please start this process as soon as your service code is received. Your blue card is required in order to begin nursing at TCU.

Please go ahead and begin gathering documentation for the following:

(a) Hepatitis B–series of 3 doses (If you have not previously received the series, get the first dose now. You will get the 2nd dose one month later. The 3rd dose is given after a 5-6- month interval.

(b) Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis (TdaP)—booster within last 10 years

(c)  Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR)—2 doses of vaccine or proof of immunity by titer.

(d)  Varicella (chickenpox)—2 doses of vaccine or proof of immunity by titer.

Accelerated BSN applicants need to complete CPR Healthcare Provider Certification for the fall semester. You will need to obtain an American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Certification with Adult/Child/Infant techniques plus AED training. This certification may not expire during a semester. If you foresee it expiring during the semester, you will be required to have updated certification prior to that semester. For a list of current classes please contact the American Heart Association. American Red Cross certification is NOT acceptable.

Traditional BSN applicants will not need to complete CPR certification at this time.

Accelerated BSN applicants only will need to have one or the other and it must be updated every year. The chest x-ray is good for two years.

Traditional BSN applicants will not need to complete this at this time.
