College can be expensive, but it doesn’t have to be a financial burden on you and your family. For nearly 80% of our Horned Frogs, TCU is a financial possibility thanks to the various forms of need-based financial aid that you can apply to.
One of the ways that U.S. students receive aid is through the federal government’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is a form completed by applicants, current TCU students and their parents each year to determine eligibility for need-based financial aid.
Prior to beginning your FAFSA application, you’ll need to create a Federal Student Aid ID. It may take anywhere from one to three business days to get verification that your ID is approved, so it’s better to start sooner, rather than later, to avoid any delays!
As you fill out your application, you’ll need to gather important documents, including social security numbers and tax information. The application takes roughly one hour to complete, so plan ahead with this in mind. And don’t forget to enter TCU’s FAFSA code - 003636 to send this information to our Office of Scholarships and Student Financial Aid.
Students identified as Texas residents and who are ineligible to apply for federal financial aid through the FAFSA may file the TASFA aid application. Click here to learn more.
In addition to the FAFSA, we also encourage prospective students to fill out the CSS profile. This application will determine your eligibility for institution-based financial aid and is required for international students seeking need-based aid. If you have any issues or are ineligible to complete the CSS Profile, reach out to our financial aid office.
To begin your CSS profile, you will use the same login information on the College Board website that you may have used to take the SAT. Keep in mind that the College Board does charge for each college that you send this information to, but students may be eligible for a fee waiver. To send your information to TCU, enter our CSS profile code - 6820.
Begin your FAFSA application and the CSS profile today. Our priority deadline for financial aid is February 1!
We are here to make this process as easy as possible for you and your family! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Office of Scholarships and Student Financial Aid or our office.
