Ever wondered what the first week at TCU looks like for an international student? Here’s a sneak peek into International arrival!
First, students arrive to campus and get checked into their new dorms. Yay – move in! Our International Services (IS) Office and International Admission teams assist with the check-in process for students.
Once students are all settled, they kick off the week with Football 101. Students get a behind-the-scenes tour of our athletics facilities, meet athletics and coaching staff, and hop on the field in our iconic Amon G. Carter Stadium to learn the ropes of some football drills. The best part is this event is not just for students, but family members are also welcome to attend!
Then, students continue the week with International Orientation where our IS team provides students with all the information they need to know to stay in good standing while under TCU’s care for their student visa. Students will learn how to stay in compliance, and who to contact should they ever have any questions throughout their journey as a Horned Frog and beyond!
Next on the schedule is a brief break to recover from jetlag before heading off to Frog Camp: Challenge B for some friendly Horned Frog competition! At Frog Camp, students can get away from the hustle and bustle of move-in to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime retreat to meet their first friends, learn about life as a TCU student and join in on epic dance parties!
Once students return to campus, they start the new week off with Orientation 12 – this is their session to learn all the need-to-know information to prepare them for the new year, meet with their academic advisor to select and register for their classes, and get a lay of the Horned Frog land.
By the end of this first week, international students have already moved in, built community, learned the traditions that make TCU unique and taken their first steps into academic life. It’s a whirlwind start – but one that sets the stage for an unforgettable journey as a Horned Frog.
