TCU Campus TourVisiting college campuses can feel a little like speed dating — you're trying to absorb everything at once while quietly asking yourself, Can I picture my life here? Figuring that out in a 90-minute tour is a lot of pressure, and honestly? You don't have to have it all figured out.

That's what your TCU tour guide is for.

As someone who's been in your shoes — standing on this campus for the first time, wondering where I'd eat lunch and if I'd actually make friends — I can tell you that asking questions is the best thing you can do on a campus visit. Not just the polished, "impressive" questions. The real ones. The ones that help you figure out if this place actually fits your life.

Here are 10 questions worth asking on your TCU campus tour — from someone who wishes they had this list before they committed.

1. What is the social life like on and off campus?

This one tells you so much more than it seems. You're not just asking about social outings — you're asking what community looks like at TCU. How do students actually spend their time? What does a typical Tuesday night look like? Fort Worth is a real city with incredible things to do, and your guide can give you the insider scoop on what life looks like beyond the classroom (and beyond campus).

2. What does enrolling for classes look like?

Registration can be one of the most stressful parts of your first year if you go in blind. Ask your guide how it actually works — when you register, how competitive certain courses are and what tips they wish they'd known. It's one of those things no one tells you until you're already stressed about it.

3. What core classes do you actually recommend?

Every TCU student takes core curriculum courses, but not all cores are created equal. Your guide has already navigated this — ask them which classes surprised them, challenged them or ended up being some of their favorites. You might discover an interest you didn't even know you had.

4. How does housing and residence life help students get connected?

Living on campus your first (and likely second) year at TCU is a huge part of how you'll build your community. Ask your guide what that experience was actually like — the RA programs, the floor events, the 2 a.m. pizza runs with people who became your best friends. Residence life is where a lot of your favorite memories will be made.

5. What is your favorite TCU tradition?

This is one of my personal favorites to answer. Whether it's rushing the field after a big win, Frog Camp or late-night study sessions in the library before finals, TCU traditions are what make the Horned Frog experience feel like home. Ask your guide to geek out a little — I promise they will.

6. What is campus like on the weekends? Do students stay or leave?

The energy on a Friday night tells you a lot about campus culture. Does campus feel alive on weekends, or does it empty out? Are students heading to the Stockyards, exploring Fort Worth or staying close to campus for events? This question helps you understand what your day-to-day experience will actually feel like outside of class.

7. What is the most underrated part of TCU?

This is the question that leads to the best answers. You'll hear about things that never make it into the brochures — a hidden study spot, a dining hall hack, a professor who changed someone's life, a program most people don't know about. Ask it every time.

8. What internship or career opportunities have you had?

TCU has an incredible alumni network and a location in one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. Ask your guide how TCU has supported their goals outside the classroom — internships, research, career fairs, mentorships. Real student experiences are way more telling than any stat about employment rates.

9. How have your professors supported you?

One of TCU's biggest strengths is the relationship between students and faculty. Small class sizes mean professors actually know your name — but ask your guide what that looks like in practice. Have they been able to grab coffee with a professor? Get extra help before an exam? Do research alongside faculty? These answers reveal a lot about TCU's academic culture.

10. Is there anything you wish you had asked — or known — before choosing TCU?

Save this one for the end. It opens the door to the most honest, unscripted advice your guide has to offer. The answers are always different, and they're almost always the most memorable part of the tour.
