Do You Qualify?
We see your potential and want to help you reach it. If you meet the following criteria, you may qualify for a tuition-free TCU education and receive additional financial assistance for food and housing.
You’re an incoming first-year student who meets TCU’s standard admission requirements
You’re a Texas resident
You’re Pell Grant eligible
Your family’s Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) is $70,000 or less*
What’s Covered
TCU for Texans is a financial aid initiative that helps make your college dreams a reality by providing:
- Full tuition coverage
- Additional assistance for food and housing needs
- Renewable support that continues throughout your TCU journey
TCU for Texans does not cover other expenses, fees and books; additional types of financial aid and/or scholarships may reduce or eliminate these costs.
You’ll be automatically considered if you meet the TCU for Texans qualification criteria and complete the following steps.
- Apply for admission to TCU.
- Complete the FAFSA or TASFA.
- Submit the CSS Profile to provide a complete picture of your financial situation.
Priority will be to given to applicants who complete the FAFSA or TASFA and CSS Profile by November 1, 2025.
If you’re admitted to TCU, you’ll be notified by the Office of Scholarships & Student Financial Aid about your financial aid package.
We’re with you every step of the way. TCU for Texans is renewable annually if you continue to meet need-based eligibility and complete the following steps.
- File the FAFSA or TASFA annually.
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress as outlined in TCU’s Undergraduate Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.
- Remain enrolled as a full-time student. Full-time enrollment is defined as 12 credit hours, except for students in their final semester, in which case aid will be prorated.

TCU is committed to increasing access to a high-quality college education for Texas families, ensuring affordability and supporting students in achieving their academic goals.
TCU for Texans covers full tuition and provides assistance for food and housing. The exact amounts are determined annually. Students are responsible for fees, books and other expenses unless those expenses are covered by other scholarships and/or financial aid.
TCU considers the following assets: cash and savings, investments, home equity, business net worth and other real estate equity. A family’s assets are considered to be reasonable if they align with the typical range for their income level. Families with assets significantly exceeding the typical range for their income may not qualify.
Minimal income fluctuations will not affect the student’s aid. As long as the student still has remaining need to cover the total aid offered, no adjustments will be made.
Yes, TCU for Texans is renewable if students continue to meet need-based eligibility as determined by the FAFSA/TASFA, which must be filed annually.

Students must meet TCU’s standard admission criteria and maintain satisfactory academic progress to remain eligible. All scholarships and grants are subject to conditions as stated in the Undergraduate Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy. TCU for Texans is contingent upon meeting requirements set forth in the policy found in the university catalog.
No, there is no separate application. Students must complete the FAFSA or TASFA and the CSS Profile, which help determine eligibility for TCU for Texans.
TCU for Texans does not automatically provide an application fee waiver. However, the $50 application fee may be waived for certain groups, including first-generation college students, veterans, students with an ACT/College Board waiver, those enrolled in the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program, and applicants affected by a recent natural disaster.
