At Texas Christian University, caring for the whole student means supporting both mind and body. From free counseling sessions to fitness opportunities and educational workshops, TCU offers programs that help students thrive personally, academically and socially.

Full-Scope Counseling and Mental Health Resources

According to Associate Director Lindsey Tardif,  TCU’s Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC), “aims to support TCU students’ successful and fulfilling university experience by offering a broad range of services provided by licensed experts in the field of college mental health.”

The CMHC provides individual and group counseling, crisis care, specialized support for student-athletes and more. Students can also participate in equine therapy and dialectical behavior therapy, which are unique forms of treatment that promote emotional regulation and personal growth.

All enrolled students have access to no- or low-cost mental health services, ensuring financial barriers never stand in the way of support. Through community partnerships and a 24/7 counseling helpline, TCU connects students to specialized care and round-the-clock resources both on and off campus.

TCU’s Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) offers a welcoming, peer-based support network for students navigating challenges related to alcohol, cannabis or other substance use. The program fosters connection, accountability and growth in a safe, inclusive space. The CRC meets weekly for conversation and hosts monthly social events on campus

Move, Play and Connect

Wellness at TCU extends beyond mental health – it’s also about movement, connection and fun. The University Recreation Center features a weight room, cardio deck, outdoor pool and rock-climbing wall, giving students many ways to stay healthy.

Students can join intramural or club sports or take advantage of free group workout classes offered throughout the week. Whether it’s yoga, weightlifting or flag football, there’s something for everyone looking to stay engaged and connected.

Frog Life, a wellness-focused peer-education group, hosts wellness workshops throughout the semester, offering practical strategies to build resilience and balance. Sessions such as “Sleep for Success,” “Overcoming Imposter Syndrome” and “Mindful Moments” give our students tools to manage stress, improve sleep and strengthen confidence.

TCU’s Campus Recreation and Wellness Promotion website also offers an in-depth look at the different dimensions of wellness, encouraging students to care for their emotional, social and physical health.
