The People Behind the Admissions: Meet Mengyuan Yu

Meet Mengyuan Yu, TCU's international admission data control specialist, whose own journey as an international student from China inspired her to support students navigating the same path. With firsthand understanding of how overwhelming the application process can feel, she finds deep meaning in helping students move from uncertainty to submitting a complete, confident application.  

Mengyuan speaks Mandarin, English and Spanish, and brings an analytical yet empathetic approach to her work behind the scenes. She finds TCU’s campus especially energizing—sharing that you can feel the enthusiasm and warmth of the community just by walking across the Campus Commons.

For students considering TCU, her advice is simple: ask questions. She believes what truly sets TCU apart is how much the faculty care—knowing students by name and always keeping their doors open.

Outside of work, Mengyuan enjoys traveling and photography. Her favorite travel destination so far is Italy, though nothing beats the fresh seafood from her hometown of Qingdao. And each year, she looks forward to one of TCU’s most beloved traditions: the annual Tree Lighting celebration.
