Why TCU Feels Like Home to International Counselor
Having spent over a decade working with Indian universities, International Admission Counselor based in India, Dhara Gandhi, has evolved in her journey as a counselor and developed a deep understanding of education from both the students’ and parents’ perspectives.
“I’ve always believed in doing what you love,” she says, “and what drew me to international education is the flexibility and the wide range of opportunities it offers students.”
Her curiosity and commitment to lifelong learning drive her approach: “I’m always researching and learning for better understanding—it helps me answer students’ questions and gives me greater awareness, too.”
Even though she hasn’t yet visited TCU’s campus in person, Dhara’s connection to the Horned Frog community runs deep.
“The love, support and appreciation I’ve received from TCU have been truly heartwarming,” she shares. “It speaks volumes about the university’s values and culture.”
Fluent in six languages: English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Sindhi and Punjabi — Dhara enjoys connecting with students and families from all walks of life. A proud foodie who loves both cooking and eating, she looks forward to visiting campus one day and sharing a meal with students in the TCU cafeteria, which she’s heard is “fantastic!”
Her favorite TCU tradition is the annual Christmas Tree Lighting — an event she describes as “awesome and fantastic.” For Dhara, it perfectly captures what she loves most about TCU: the joy, togetherness and celebration of community that make every student feel at home.
